Core Testing
Core testing for quality and reliable repair of an electric motor is essential. This test determines if the motor core has retained its magnetic operating efficiency and if there are any short circuits or hot spots in the core. The main reason that a motor loses efficiency (iron loss), is overheating and insulation breakdown between laminations. Our core tester guides us as to the suitability of a repair. We can consequently certify the condition of the core. A motor with a poor core can lose up to 25% efficiency and respectively increase operating temperature by up to 25%. This reduces the insulation life and hence the life of the motor. However a good repair retains near to 100% efficiency.
